Autopsies are underway on five people who were killed in an early morning fire in the city’s northeast on the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 100 block of Falchurch Crescent at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and found a home fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The fire was spreading to a nearby property and crews had to work quickly to get it under control.

The bodies of five men were recovered from the scene and police are investigating to determine if their deaths are suspicious.

"It's under investigation. Our investigator is working with the Calgary Police Service to try and determine that," said CFD Chief Steve Dongworth.

Autopsies are underway and officials say they hope to have them completed in the next day or two.  The names of the five men are not being released at this time.
