A local business has donated a Calgary Flames flag to Calgary City Council and the councillor for Ward 2 says there’s a perfect spot along Macleod Trail for the flag to fly.

Joe Magliocca plans to present a motion to council to honour the achievements of Calgary’s professional sports teams. If approved, the Calgary Flames flag, donated by Flagworks, would fly above Calgary City Hall.

“The flag represents an achievement of the Calgary Flames,” said Magliocca. “We’re proud of them and we want to tell them that the city, and city hall, is behind our Calgary Flames.”

Magliocca says the flag would be raised on special occasions. such as a playoff series victory, and would not be a permanent addition to the city hall landscape.

The Ward 2 councillor believes the ‘Flaming C’ would show the city’s support for the NHL squad and provide a morale boost during the team's 2015 playoff run.
