Now that the Calgary Board of Education knows that they won’t be seeing any more money from the provincial coffers, they’ll be looking for other methods to come up with the shortfall.

The CBE hasn’t yet said where they will be increasing revenue or by how much, but it’s clear that parents will be hit in the wallet.

One particular area that officials say they’re looking at hiking is bussing fees, which will jump beyond the current $295 per year.

Those fees have increased by nearly 80 percent over the past five years.

In 2012, the CBE tacked on a noon supervision fee of $80 to students who are bussed in to their schools.

They’ll be increasing that fee again this year, but they won’t say by how much.

The province also ended its fuel contingency funding, which the CBE says amounts to $2.3M.
