Calgary Police say they’ve arrested five youth in connection with drugs and theft following a prolonged operation against crime in the area of the Shawnessy Shopping Centre.

Police were brought to the attention of a considerable amount of criminal activity in the area by concerned residents.

From the beginning of January 2014 to March 2014, police received 95 calls relating to social disorder, but in the three months following that, the number of calls dropped to 57.

Police say they are continues their efforts in the area and encourages residents to report any concerns or suspicious activity to police at 403-266-1234.
