Hundreds of people gathered outside Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s constituency office in Calgary to protest against Bill C-45.

The omnibus budget bill put forward by the Tories includes changes to the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act, and the Fisheries Act among others.

Many First Nations groups say the changes will have a drastic and negative affect on their communities.

They add that the changes were proposed without proper consultation.

The Assembly of First Nations met in Ottawa last week, voicing their displeasure with the bill.

Protesters say that this is only the beginning of their opposition to the far-reaching bill.
