A donation of unwanted electronic devices will allow visitors free access to Drumheller’s Royal Tyrrell Museum on Friday as the museum celebrates the 47th edition of Earth Day.
“We have a saying here at the museum, ‘dinosaurs eat people who don’t recycle’,” laughs Lisa Making, director of exhibits and communication. “We’re inviting everybody to come down. If they want to bring their old mobile device – cell phone, MP3 players, old digital cameras – we will take those.”
The donated devices will be collected and transported to an electronic recycling facility where they will be recycled in a secure and environmentally safe manner.
This is the first year the museum has held an Earth Day event.
“We don’t know what to expect,” said Making of Friday’s potential attendance numbers. “The weather has been beautiful and it’s a beautiful drive out to the valley.”
