The Strathmore RCMP detachment has closed the Trans-Canada Highway at a location seven kilometres east of Strathmore following an afternoon crash which ruptured the main gas line.
There have been no reported injuries in connection to the single vehicle crash.
Emergency crews and ATCO Gas crews are on scene.
Westbound highway traffic is being detoured around the crash scene using Highway 21.
The eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway reopened shortly before 3:30 p.m.
According to members of the Strathmore RCMP, the westbound lanes of the highway will remain closed for several hours.
