Students are expected to return to a northwest tutoring centre on Monday night, 10 days after the abrupt, unexpected closure of the business.

Jim Argue, president of Sylvan Learning Centres for Northern Alberta, has agreed to handle operations for the Silver Springs and Airdrie locations after Ceyana Inc., the previous franchise owners, shut the doors of its locations.

Argue has rehired the staff of the Silver Springs location and classes resumed Monday night.

On July 10, students and parents encountered covered windows and locked doors at the Ceyana Inc. owned locations. Tutoring services were paid for in advance, and parents expressed concerns over refunds.

Argue says the students will receive the education the parents had paid for.

“We want to come in to make sure they get the hours, to make sure that happens,” explains Argue.

Due to a lease issue, the Sylvan Learning Centre location in Airdrie is not expected to reopen until the fall.
