An afternoon collision at the intersection of Highway 2A and RR 292 has sent a three-year-old child to hospital.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m., EMS, Airdrie RCMP and members of the Crossfield Fire Department responded to a location near the Acme overpass following reports of a collision.

According to police, a southbound 2011 Jeep Patriot pulled into the path of an eastbound 2007 Ford Fusion. The impact of the collision caused the Fusion to strike a third vehicle.

A 3-year-old child, a passenger in the Ford Fusion, was transported by ambulance to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. The child’s injuries are considered non-life threatening.

No other injuries have been reported.

The driver of the Jeep Patriot, a 20-year-old woman, has been charged with failing to proceed safely after stopping.
