The day after notifying 2,000 of its employees of temporary layoffs, XL Foods has recalled 800 of the employees to assist in meeting the CFIA's requirements for reopening the Brooks based meat processing plant.

XL Foods has issued recall notices to approximately 800 employees to move forward with the ongoing CFIA review.
The recall of these employees is key to XL Foods efforts to satisfy the conditions of the temporary license to demonstrate the implementation of enhanced protocols.
“We look forward to actively working with CFIA to bring this to a viable and timely resolution to allow the plant to recommence operations.” said Brian Nilsson, Co-CEO of XL Foods.
