Police say alcohol was a factor in a northwest crash on Saturday morning.

It happened around 11:30 on Bow Village Crescent.

Police say a man got into a fight and jumped into his PT Cruiser. When he was leaving the parking lot, he hit a truck. The driver continued down the street and crashed into a tree which is when officers caught up with him and arrested him.  Charges are pending.

On Friday, police were called to three accidents where impaired driving appeared to be a factor.

The most serious was a fatal crash at Metis Trail and 64 Avenue N.E.

Four people were in the car when the driver lost control. The vehicle hit a light standard then spun into a bridge abutment.

A 30-year-old female passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were taken to hospital in serious condition.

The 19-year-old female driver received minor injuries. Charges are still pending.

Police say so far this year, there have been five fatalities in four crashes. In three of those collisions, alcohol was a factor.
