Border services officers seized 31 kilograms of suspected cocaine at a southern Alberta border crossing last week and a Fort McMurray man is now facing drug charges.

On Saturday, a vehicle that was returning to Alberta through the Carway border crossing was sent for further examination.

A search of the vehicle turned up 31 bricks of suspected cocaine, which was turned over to RCMP.

The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized by authorities.

Bradley Michael Gaudrault, 26, of Fort McMurray is charged with two counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Gaudrault is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Thursday.

CBSA officials say it is the largest narcotics seizure at the Carway border crossing and that they have confiscated more than 150 kilograms of suspected cocaine over the past four months.
