A Calgary mother accused of killing two of her newborn babies confessed to a police officer that she tossed a child into a dumpster without checking to see if the child was alive.
Meredith Borowiec is on trial in a Calgary courtroom charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
On Monday, court watched an interview with police from 2011 in which she confessed to delivering a baby in 2008.
She admits to wrapping the infant in a towel and a trash bag and then putting the bag in a garbage dumpster.
She said she didn't even bother to see if the child was a boy or a girl.
Borowiec was charged after another newborn was saved from a dumpster outside her home in 2010 and was charged with attempted murder in that case.
She was very emotional in court and sobbed while the video was played.
The judge will now have to decide whether the interview will be admitted into evidence.
The trial is in its third week and is expected to last six weeks.
