A man wanted by RCMP in Canmore in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a child on Wednesday has been arrested in B.C.
A warrant was issued for 37-year-old Jorge Betancourt who is charged with one count each of abduction and invitation to sexual touching.
Police say a male allegedly pulled an 8-year-old female into a washroom at a public building in Canmore at about 1:00 p.m. and then committed the act of verbal inviting a sexual act.
The young girl managed to run from the washroom, and although she was quite shaken by the incident, she was not physically harmed.
Police say Betancourt was arrested without incident in Whistler, B.C., on Thursday.
Betancourt will be returned to Alberta to answer to the charges.
