Police have laid charges against three girls involved in a violent incident in Chestermere.

Micheala Paul and her friend MacKenzie Rutherford tell CTV News they were lured away from school property over the lunch hour on Monday and severely beaten by several classmates.

"I hit my head really hard. I lost a lot of hair from getting it pulled out and getting punched in the ribs, and the stomach, and the face," says Rutherford.

Rutherford also ended up with a concussion and Paul suffered a fractured wrist.

Paul says the bullying has been going on for months. "It's been name calling, pushing in the hallways, breaking things – personal objects – and just plain hurtful words."

Parents of the girls who were injured met with school officials on Tuesday. "We didn't get any answers. We were given global answers and assurances that things would be dealt with but this has been an on-going issue with no resolution," says Alison Cassidy.

Officials with St. Gabriel the Archangel School in Chestermere say there is no evidence of systemic bullying happening at the school but they are still investigating.

Police seized cell phones from some of the witnesses and are looking through images captured on the phones to figure out what happened.

Investigators say at this point there is nothing to indicate bullying. Instead, it appears to be a case of two groups of feuding Grade 8 and Grade 9 students.

Three teens have been charged with causing a disturbance. Investigators say more charges could be laid, including some against those who say they were victimized
