A man has been charged in connection to a random deadly attack in Inglewood.

Darrin Thomas Amond, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators believe neither the victim nor the alleged attacker new each other and say the incident appears to have been unprovoked.

It happened on Monday evening near 22 Avenue and 17 Street S.E.

People phoned the police after a man was found unconscious around 8 p.m.

Paramedics took him to hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

Investigators say the victim was assaulted so badly they are turning to dental records to confirm his identity.

A second man, who is under arrest on an unrelated matter, is also being investigated.
