The music at the Summer Sensation Beach Music Festival in Sylvan Lake was temporarily halted on Friday night as a crowd surfer landed on a security guard, sending the man into convulsions after crashing headfirst into an undisclosed object.

RCMP say the incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. during Our Lady Peace’s performance at the festival located in Centennial Park on the shores of Sylvan Lake.

The Ontario based band temporarily stopped their set and called for medical attention for the convulsing guard. RCMP members attended to the injured men until an EMS crew arrived.

The security guard regained consciousness and was transported by ambulance to the Red Deer hospital.

The guard was released Saturday morning and has been medically cleared to return to work.

The festival continues Saturday afternoon.
