A 72-year-old man has succumbed to the injuries he suffered in a Friday afternoon collision on Whoop Up Drive.

Lethbridge police say the man was driving a westbound Pontiac Montana at roughly 3:30 p.m. near the University Drive exit when the minivan collided with a loader removing snow from the street.

The unidentified man, a resident of Lethbridge, was transported by ambulance to Chinook Regional Hospital where he passed away Friday night.

The driver of the loader was not injured in the collision.

Police have ruled out speed and alcohol as contributing factors but investigators believe reduced visibility caused by glare from the sun may have played a role.

Members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service traffic response unit continue to investigate the fatal crash.
