Police have arrested a known gang member after being called out to a fight in northwest Calgary.

Officers responded to the 100 block of 10 Street N.W. early Sunday morning.

When they arrived, they found two men who had been stabbed.

Police noticed Jackie Tran, 26, at the scene and arrested him for violating his curfew. "Mr. Tran was not involved in the actual altercation but he was with people who were involved and was with several other known gang members," says SSgt. Gord Eirkisson.

Tran was ordered deported to Vietnam in 2004 after a drug trafficking conviction.

He is currently appealing the decision and was arrested at a funeral for another known gang member in January for failing to show up for a hearing.

But on October 17th, a judge ruled that he should be released until his deportation hearing.

Tran is currently in custody at the Remand Centre.

His federal court appeal of his deportation is scheduled for Thursday.
