A local company that expanded when the movie industry was hot in Alberta is now feeling the effects of a failing economy and is liquidating hundreds of movie and television costumes.
Momentum Design in Springbank stocks nearly one million costumes and accessories from over 30 years in the movie and television industry.
The company is selling many of the items just in time for Halloween.
Shelves are packed with costumes like western outfits, space suits and mediaeval garb.
The company's owner says she'll still make costumes for movies, but she's getting out of the business of storing them.
"We have some things that make it difficult, between, obviously the dollar hurts us, the fact that we don't have a level playing field with our tax incentives like other countries or the states, plus, we don't have a studio and so those things have affected our business more and more and more," said Wendy Partridge of Momentum Design.
The sale runs every day until Halloween and the company is located in Springbank, across the road from Calaway Park.
