Trevor Kloschinsky, charged in connection with the death of a peace officer at a rural property southwest of Calgary, is expected to appear in court on Monday.

Reports say that the court has requested that he appear in person rather than by teleconference.

He is charged with first degree murder in the death of Rod Lazenby.

Lazenby was working as a peace officer for the M.D. of Foothills and was investigating an animal complaint at a property near Priddis.

While there, Lazenby was involved in some sort of altercation and was severely injured.

He was driven to the District 8 office in Calgary and quickly transported to hospital where he later died.
