Police have deemed the suspicious death of a man at a motel on Monday a homicide and a 35-year old man is now charged with murder.

Emergency crews were called to the Banff Trail Motel at 2107 16th Avenue NW at about noon and found a man dead in one of the rooms.

The homicide unit was called in to investigate and an autopsy was completed on the body on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Christian Jovanovic of Calgary.

Martin Allan Rangers, 35, is now charged with second-degree murder in Jovanovic’s death.

Investigators are still looking for a stolen vehicle that is believed to be connected to the case.

The vehicle is described as a grey, two-door 2015 Fiat 500M with Enterprise Rent-a-Car stickers.

Police say the licence plate may be an Alberta plate numbered K-87992, but say it could have been replaced.

Rangers is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
