Police are investigating two more cases of food tampering in our city.

The target is another major grocery chain, and this time it was a close call for a young child.

On Friday a fuming police chief announced authorities are changing their tactics.

Police say the tampering took place at the Heritage Meadows and Shawnessy Superstore locations.

In the Shawnessy location a metal object was put in some fruit and a mother unknowingly bought the fruit and put it in a blender to make her child a drink.

It was only while the child was consuming the drink that the mother noticed some metal fragments.

Police Chief Rick Hanson says the tampering has reached a disturbing new level.

The Chief believes there have been so many incidents reported on every day, that these "idiots" are getting a cheap thrill out of seeing the coverage on the news.

Police are still going to report the incidents and the locations, but they won't be talking about them on camera or to newspapers and radio.

Hanson also says the people involved in the tampering, should realize that this situation has reached a whole new level and that the courts will likely be looking at handing out serious time for these crimes.

Calgarians are being more careful about checking their groceries and many are angry over the incidents.
