Officials with Plains Midstream Canada say a condensate release in the Kemp pipeline at a location northwest of Manning, Alberta has been successfully contained.
More than 60 workers, consisting of Plains Midstream staff and contractors, remained at the site around the clock to repair the release. Gator and vacuum trucks are being used to remove the fluids released into a section of land measuring approximately 100 metres by 150 metres.
A wildlife assessment conducted by Plains Midstream determined that no wildlife has been impacted by the condensate release, but officials will continue to assess the area.
The removal of the affected section of the pipeline is underway and an inspection will be conducted by a third-party firm.
Officials believe the pipeline may have received external damaged caused by construction equipment utilized in the area.
