Officers had to blocked off an alleyway near a number of homes in Beddington as they investigated a shooting that took place on Saturday night.

They responded to the scene in the 100 block of Beddington Circle at 8:00 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

No one was reported injured, but it appears that bullets may have struck a vehicle parked in the driveway of one of the homes.

One resident says he heard the gunshots ring out on Saturday night.

"I wasn't sure if it was gunfire of firecrackers going off, but I looked out the window and I noticed a compact SUV coming down the hill and shortly after I noticed a young man trying to run down the hill as well and jumped into this vehicle," said Garry Beutler.

He says that two other vehicles soon appeared and drove off in the opposite direction.

The situation has left him quite wary about the safety in his community.

"I'm a little concerned that there are things like that in this community too. I guess it's a city-wide problem. Any community can have those kind of things happening."

He says the problems are often caused by the people who are renting the homes rather than the homeowners themselves.

"The homeowner doesn't live there, they're renting the top out, they're renting the bottom out, there's a lot of cars around and therefore you have some concerns as to what kind of people are moving in and out."

Police have not said anything about any suspects and the investigation is still ongoing.
