Lethbridge police surrounded a residence on Sunday evening after gunshots were reported in the area and a 32-year-old man is now facing charges in connection to the incident.

Emergency crews responded to the 100 block of Heritage Blvd. for a ‘high risk’ incident at about 9:00 p.m.

Four people from the home were able to get out safely and police cordoned off the area while they searched for a suspect.

Police searched a home in the area but did not locate a suspect and attended a second location along Dalhousie Court a short time later.

The suspect fled the area in a vehicle and RCMP picked up his trail at about 1:45 a.m.

Police pursued the vehicle until the driver pulled over near Granum, where he was taken into custody.

Officials say no one was injured in the incident but neighbours reported hearing several gunshots.

“As we were walking we heard four or five or six rapid fire pop, pop, pop and we all stopped and looked at each other and thought well that sounds like gun fire,” said Tawna Kutsch

“It’s pretty unusual for this area, its usually pretty quit here, that's why I like it here,” said Steven Frank.

Police say the shooting was a targeted incident and that all those involved were known to each other.

Charges are pending against a 32-year-old Lethbridge man.
