Just a few days after a man was found exhibiting strange and violent behaviour in Bridlewood, Calgary Police were called out to deal with what appears to be another drug-induced violent incident.

Around 2:00 a.m Tuesday., neighbours on Dover Tree Place S.E. called police after they spotted a man who was half naked and slamming his face up against several fences in the area.

When officers got there, they attempted to approach him, but he started to lash out.

In the end, it took seven officers to get the man under control.

The man was covered in blood and had significant facial wounds and was transported to hospital in serious, non-life threatening condition.

Police say that they have not yet determined if the incident is related to the substance bath salts and that so far they have not siezed or found the drug on Calgary streets.

This is the second case that police have had to deal with where they suspect bath salts as the culprit.

The first was at a home in Bridlewood on Saturday.

The parents of a man called police after he was behaving strangely.

They claimed he was lashing out and may have ended up taking bath salts.

In that incident, it took four officers to get the man under control.

“It is an eye-opener for us whether this turns out to be bath salts or not. We are becoming more educated and we will be cautious in the future and thus the whole point of a debrief is because this one is the first case of being told bath salts are involved,” said Duty Inspector Paul Stacey.

The federal government plans to start the process to put bath salts in the same category as heroin and cocaine, making it illegal to sell or possess.
