Calgary police are searching for two men believed to be involved in a hate-motivated crime at the Tuscany CTrain station.

The pair entered the station in northwest Calgary on Thursday, December 3, 2015 and started spray painting graffiti on both the lower and upper platforms. A CTrain was also tagged with the gold-coloured spray paint, as well as five vehicles parked in the south parking lot.

All of the graffiti messages were anti-Syrian and anti-refugee and police have classified the actions as a hate crime.

"I think it's very important to send a message, as a whole, as a community, to people that would do these kind of offences that, you know what, we're not on board, the rest of us don't agree with that, it's against the law and you'll be dealt with," said CPS Sgt. Eric Levesque.

Police say if caught, the offenders could be charged with criminal mischeif causing more that $5000 damage and that classifying it as a hate crime means the court has the power to double the sentence upon conviction.
