The man found dead in a car on a rural road northeast of Airdrie last week has been identified as 33-year-old Mohammed Saqib and police have classified his death as a homicide.

Fire crews were called to a vehicle fire at about 7:00 a.m. on Friday near Township Road 280 and Range Road 283.

Crews extinguished the blaze and found the body of a man in the wreckage.

Police are not saying how Saqib died or how the fire started.

The Major Crimes branch is investigating and is working to determine Saqib’s whereabouts before he died.
