A shocking find for workers at the Sarcee landfill on the Tsuu T'ina Nation.
The Calgary Humane Society says three small puppies were dumped there on Tuesday.
Two women in a black pick-up truck were spotted dropping the dogs off, then speeding away.
One of the puppies did not survive.
The Humane Society received information from RCMP that the puppies were stolen a few days ago from a First Nations resident.
"We are asking anyone who may have information to come forward," said Patricia Cameron, Executive Director of the Calgary Humane Society.
"These innocent little lives do not deserve this kind of treatment. The puppies were lethargic, dehydrated and hypothermic when they arrived in our care and we are doing everything we can to keep them comfortable after this traumatizing ordeal."
RCMP are also investigating the case and would like anyone with information to come forward.
For now, the puppies will stay under the Calgary Humane Society's care.
If you have any information about the abandonment of these puppies please call the Calgary Humane Society's peace officers at (403) 205-4455.
