A fresh dump of snow is making travel in and around the city a bit tricky and motorists are advised to use caution as winter conditions set in once again.

RCMP say the QEII north of the city is in poor condition and shut down the roadway on Friday afternoon at Highway 587 near Innisfail and Highway 12 near Lacombe due to crashes. The highway has since reopened.

Police say the highway between the two points is very icy and travel is not recommended.

The highway between Calgary and Red Deer is reported to be partly covered in snow and visibility is fair but conditions are deteriorating.

The snow is starting to accumulate on roads in the city as well and many motorists are reporting slick conditions on ramps and at intersections.

Calgary police say 23 crashes, one with injuries, have been reported in the city between 4:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
