The City of Calgary has lifted the snow route parking ban it enacted earlier this week after a heavy snowfall.

The ban was declared at 9 a.m. on Wednesday so crews could clear Priority 2 routes.

Crews say they encountered drifts as high as eight feet tall in some areas.

They’ll now be focusing on side streets through the weekend, especially on trouble spots in the northeast and northwest.

The parking ban is the fifth every called in the city.

About 1,100 tickets were issued to people who didn’t move their vehicles out of marked zones.

The maximum fine is $75.
