City crews have been working around the clock to dig out priority routes and the city says the Snow Route parking ban will end on Friday morning.

The city called the ban at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday and had all available roads crews out clearing priority 2 routes.

Officials say that about 80 percent of those routes are clear and they expect to have the rest done overnight.

The huge accumulation of snow prompted the city to continue the ban into Thursday but officials say it will be lifted at 6:00 a.m. on December 6.

Crews say they encountered drifts as high as 8 feet tall in some areas and will begin clearing side streets this weekend.

The city says crews will focus their efforts on trouble spots in the northeast and northwest where the drifts are especially high.

The Snow Route parking ban is the fifth for the city and is intended to help crews clear priority streets quicker so they can get to residential areas.

The longest Snow Route parking ban was on January 11, 2013 when the city received 24 cm of snow and lasted for 36 hours.

So far about 1100 tickets have been issued and the fine is $75.
