The trial for the parents of Summer Hope continues and evidence shows they waited hours until paramedics were called.

In April, 2006, paramedics found Summer Hope dead in her home.

Her parents, Jonathon Hope and Lisa Guerin are charged with manslaughter.

On Wednesday morning, Amanda MacDonald took the stand.

She was in the home on April 29th when 16-month-old Summer Hope drank methadone.

MacDonald testified she saw Summer come out of Jonathon's bedroom with an orange stain on her shirt.

She says Lisa and Jonathon noticed the stain and Lisa acknowledged Summer must have drank Jonathon's methadone. MacDonald says the couple went on to argue over how the baby accessed the drug.

MacDonald and Guerin left the house shortly after the incident because they both were scheduled to dance at a strip club in Rocky Mountain House.

MacDonald says Guerin received a phone call from Jonathon around 5:30 p.m. saying something was wrong with Summer and he wanted Guerin home.

MacDonald testified that Guerin told Hope's father to give her some coffee or orange juice.

Autopsy results show Summer died overnight. Paramedics were called to the home at 1 p.m. the next day.

The lawyer for Guerin says his client isn't responsible for Summer's death because she had the impression her daughter would get help.
