Thousands of Enmax customers received huge utility bills last month.

Vicki Rogers says her average utility bill in the winter is $350 per month, but last month she received a bill for $884.

Enmax says the large bills stem from a billing system upgrade the company performed.

Customers, whose bills were about to be printed when the upgrade happened, had their charges stored in the system.

Enmax then added that amount to the next bill which was printed several weeks later.

The utility company says it will work out a payment plan for those impacted.

"For those individuals that would like to make some sort of payment arrangements to pay over the course of time, rather than pay it all at once, we're happy to accommodate that," says Doris Kaufmann, a spokesperson for Enmax.

Enmax says this was a one-time occurrence and everyone who was impacted should have received their bills by now.
