The federal government says there are stringent guidelines in place to prevent war criminals from entering Canada, but it can be difficult to spot those who apply for asylum using false passports.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews says about 300 people are denied entry to Canada each year because of suspected violations of human rights.

If the new website proves to be successful, the government says it may release more names in the future.
