If you’re looking for a job and enjoy a good dose of fresh mountain air, you may be in luck.

According to a new report on the job vacancy rate in Canada, Banff and Jasper are leading the country in the amount of available jobs.

Most of the positions are in the retail and service sector, and with those tourist-driven communities in Banff and Jasper, it’s not hard to understand why.

Business owners are always looking for workers and, while they don’t pay a lot, they can be the perfect fit for many people.

“It’s just the lifestyle of people coming and going,” says Kirby Alexander with Mary’s Popcorn Shop. “There are always people looking to open places, looking to close, people coming, people leaving, it’s a nice lifestyle.”

Job seekers say they are also enjoying a lot of attention. “I’ve been here for a week and a half and I’ve had eight or so interviews, so there’s definitely lots of jobs,” said job seeker Amanda Leske.

It’s not just part-time jobs enjoying vacancies, but 80 percent of those positions in Alberta are full time.
