A Cochrane area breeder was allegedly assaulted on Sunday evening after she tried to stop a prospective buyer from taking off with an eight-week-old French bulldog puppy.

Police say a breeder at a residence near Township Road 264 invited a couple into her home at about 10:30 p.m. to take a look at purchasing a puppy from a recent litter.

The pair fled the home in a blue sports car and were seen travelling eastbound on Highway 1A.

The man is described as:

  • About 178 to 180 cm or 5’10 or 5’11 tall
  • Darker skin, possibly Hispanic
  • Short brown well styled hair
  • Slender build
  • Was wearing a blue jacket with a white polo shirt underneath, blue jeans and white Converse-style sneakers

The woman is described as:

  • Hispanic
  • Brown hair
  • Very slender build and small in size

Police say the offenders said they were from El-Salvador and that they did not speak English very well.
