The Calgary Bull Sale is a huge economic indicator when it comes to the health of the cattle industry and for 2015, the future looks bright.

Every year ranchers come together to show, sell and buy world-class Alberta bulls for use in breeding programs across the country.

The Canadian cow herd has shrunk over the last seven years, but with the high prices, that should encourage expansion.

Market expert, Brian Perillat said demand for Canadian beef is high, while production is flat.

"Increasing middle class and wealth is the biggest driver of beef demand and has driven prices to record highs," said Perillt.

Held at Stampede Park, the event is the longest running consignment bull sale in the world and continues for the next few days.
