Speedskater Ted-Jan Bloemen returned home to Calgary on Sunday with a new world record.
Bloemen smashed the old record in the 10,000 metre event in Salt Lake City on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
With a time of 12:36:30, Bloemen beat the old record by more than five seconds. The previous record holder, Sven Kramer of Netherlands, also set his record in Salt Lake City.
