It’s one of the coolest traditions all year as more than 20 swimmers were ‘freezin’ for a reason’ in southwest Calgary on Tuesday.

Safety divers were on hand to make sure that everyone who went into the freezing water got back out again.

Paramedics and a wood stove were also available to help swimmers recover from the extreme cold.

The Polar Plunge in Discovery Ridge raised nearly $40,000 to help Servants Anonymous, a group devoted to helping victims of sexual slavery around the world.

It’s the fourth year that the ‘Old Guys in Action’ hosted the event.

Adam Weaver, one of the participants, says that he was there to fight for the freedom of people around the world.

Everyone in the event got through their experience safely.
