Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter hosts the 20th annual Turning Points Gala, on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Calgary.

This year will mark “40 years of Taking a Stand Against Family Violence” for the agency and this year’s fundraising gala will commemorate this important milestone. This social event and charity fundraiser will feature speeches from local community leaders who are Take A Stand Ambassadors for the organization and terrific auction prizes. Tables of 8 are available for $2400 and individual tickets are $300. For tickets, call (403) 539‐5143 or visit: www.calgarywomensshelter.com.

“We are thrilled to take part in this year’s Turning Points Fundraising Gala as the Honorary Patrons,” says Wayne and Eleanor Chiu of Trico Homes, “This signature event helps the agency raise much needed funds for its safety, healing and prevention programs which help women, children, youth and men recover from the effects of violence and abuse.”

Incorporated in 1974, the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter was the first shelter in Western Canada to provide a holistic approach to helping women and children affected by violence and abuse; the 50-bed Shelter houses women with children, and single women, fleeing violence and abuse.

Though the Emergency Shelter is the cornerstone of the organization, the agency is “more than a Shelter”, providing many free programs and services to the community. Since its inception, the agency has changed the lives of more than 150,000 Calgarians. Turning Points 2014 sponsors include: Platinum Sponsors: Cardel Lifestyles, Newalta and Norris Family Foundation – Shelly and Alan Norris; Gold Sponsors: Homes by Avi, Borger Group of Companies, Flames Foundation for Life and Trico Homes.
