Canmore RCMP say they have arrested three people and seized nearly 40 pounds of marijuana that was uncovered in two separate traffic stops this month.

In the first incident, police stopped a two people in an Alberta Checkstop just before midnight on November 8.

The attending officer detected the odour of marijuana from the vehicle and a subsequent search uncovered 4.5 pounds of the drug.

One adult male and one adult female from Saskatchewan have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On November 12, police stopped an eastbound vehicle for a vehicle equipment violation near the Banff Park gates.

While the officer was speaking with the occupants, they observed what appeared to be marijuana inside the vehicle compartment.

A further search uncovered 32.5 pounds of marijuana concealed in a compartment inside the vehicle’s slip tank.

Dean Ball, 40, and another man were charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
