Crown prosecutors say the charges against the husband of a day home operator in northwest Calgary have been stayed.

In February, police charged Miles Clark, 51, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a four-year-old boy at a day home he was attending in Rocky Ridge.

Clark was charged with sexual interference and sexual assault, but prosecutors now say the circumstances have changed and a conviction is now unlikely.

The alleged charges have forced Clark’s wife to shut down her day home because of the loss of business.

The Crown has one year to re-lay the charges or drop them permanently.
