If a major water break on Crowchild Trail wasn’t enough, residents in southwest Calgary are dealing with their own issues.

40 homes are still without water in Marda Loop after a water main broke at 19 St. and 28 Ave. S.W. on Sunday.

The city says the problem there won’t likely be fixed until Monday morning.

Meanwhile, water wagons have been brought in to help the residents who’ve had their water cut off.

Flore Maria Guitieriz says that her main concerns are about the toilets in her home getting full. “At least the city gave us water and you can just come to the corner here. But, you know, we need to bathe and we have a pet and he needs to have his water.”

Crews were also busy dealing with a sewer backup in the southwest section of the city.

They were called to the area at around Sunday at noon near Glenmore Trail and 45 St.

Sewage was apparently bubbling up and running down the road into the storm sewer.

Fire crews shut down some of the lanes on Glenmore Trail to conduct clean up.
