Calgary police have apprehended a man believed responsible for breaking into storage lockers at five apartment buildings.

According to members of the Calgary Police Service, 35-year-old Jesse Lawrence Dubruiel successfully entered a building in the 1100 block of 6 Avenue Southwest on Saturday, August 8, 2015, after bypassing the security system at the building’s entrance.

Police have not disclosed what, if anything, was removed from the premises.

Using surveillance images, police identified the suspect and determined the man was responsible for four similar break-ins.

On August 26, 2015, police located the suspect outside of a residence that the man was prohibited from visiting for undisclosed reasons.

The suspect was armed with a knife and an armed standoff occurred. Police successfully apprehended Dubruiel without incident.

Dubruiel faces charges of:

  • Break and enter with intent (two counts)
  • Break and enter to commit an offence (two counts)
  • Assaulting a peace officer (three counts)
  • Breachs of recognizance (two counts)
  • Criminal code warrants (four counts)

Dubruiel is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The investigation into recent commercial break and enters continues and police anticipate additional charges.
