Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) 2015-16 Season
DJD is a professional dance company that celebrates the rich traditions and boundless future of jazz, thoroughly engaging audiences with their unique, innovative, and visceral style of dance.
From November 13-21, they'll perform a new dance creation called The Gravity Players at Theatre Junction GRAND. The Gravity Players features the DJD Company performing a variety of pieces created by Sarisa f. de Toledo, Deanne Walsh, and Kimberley Cooper, as well as Toronto choreographers Hanna Kiel and Gadfly who will add some contemporary and urban dance to the mix..
On March 5, 2016, DJD presents its annual fundraiser The Black & White Ball at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel. Dress the part and dance the night away at this fun and flamboyant party.
In the spring of 2016 Calgary will celebrate the opening of the DJD Dance Centre, a beautiful purpose-built facility on the corner of 12 Avenue and Centre Street SE. DJD's exciting new home will also include Calgary’s largest recreational dance school. Your first glimpse of this new facility will be on April 29 & 30, 2016, in celebration of International Dance Day and International Jazz Day.
From May 27-June 12, 2016, DJD will perform New Universe, a new piece choreographed by DJD Artistic Director Kimberley Cooper. New Universe will be a driving, physical, percussive exploration of minuscule and grand - in the new universe- the DJD Dance Centre.
