Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a business north of Calgary on Thursday morning.

Smoke was spotted billowing out over the horizon above Rangeland RV in Balzac at about 1 a.m.

The blaze is considered under control at this time.

Crews are checking over the building for hot spots and are working to determine a cause. They are also venting the remaining structure cautiously as the structural integrity of the building has been compromised in the fire.

There were no reports of injuries in the fire.

Officials say that Rangeland's main showroom and service building were heavily damaged in the fire. It's likely the building will have to come down as a result.

The damage estimate is close to $1M.

RCMP and Rocky View Fire Service members are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. Anyone with information about the blaze is asked to contact the Airdrie RCMP detachment 403-945-7267 or Crime Stoppers.
