Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation’s (BCSCF) annual fundraising event Fashion with Compassion invites its 650 attendees to enjoy an afternoon of fabulous food, fashion and fun while learning more about the services provided by BCSCF.  The latest fashions are modeled by patients and family members.

BCSCF has a specially trained medical team which provides whole person (physical, mental, relational, social and spiritual) care to patients and families at no cost.

It is the only model of care of its kind in Canada. The BCSCF team provides medical expertise not only in diagnosis and treatment but throughout the recovery process to address post treatment challenges such as fear of recurrence, body image, intimacy or return to work issues.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, it accounts for 26% of all new cancer cases in women. With one out of nine women expected to develop breast cancer at some point in her life, we have approximately 1000 women in Calgary diagnosed annually.

Of the women seen at BCSCF over 30% are under the age of 50. Breast cancer touches everyone, whether it is immediate family or an acquaintance, many of us know someone who has been affected by this disease.

Since opening their doors in 2003, they have supported over 28,207 patient and family visits. There is an increasing demand for BCSCF as the number of women diagnosed with breast cancer increases and advances in cancer treatments and survival rates continue to improve.

As a result, increasing numbers of breast cancer patients will live with the long-term effects of their treatments and the ongoing challenges of cancer.

BCSC is committed to increasing its resources and capacity of their team and these funds enabling them to meet the growing demand for their programs and services.
