An early morning fire in the city’s southeast destroyed one condominium building and severely damaged two neighbouring buildings.  All buildings in the complex were under construction and unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Fire crews responded to the call at approximately 2:40 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of McKenzie Towne Dr.

Residents were evacuated from nearby homes and surrounding roads were closed to traffic.

Crews extinguished the blaze but the complex suffered significant damage.  An estimate into the financial extent of the damage has yet to be released.

Investigators and the CFD Arson Unit remain on scene.  The cause of the fire has not been released.
